Celebrating Multiculturalism at BHGHS
Friday the 22nd of May saw the third annual celebration of Multicultural Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the diverse cultural backgrounds that exist in our school community.
Students were encouraged to come to school wearing cultural attire, provided with the opportunity to purchase traditional food from a plethora of student run stalls and entertained with a series of customary dances and musical performances celebrating and encouraging the values of respect, understanding and acceptance.
Students who wore cultural dress also generously donated a gold coin to Stewart House. This meant that not only did we look great, but we also raised in excess of $700 for this worthy cause.
The Student Representative Council would like to thank all students, teachers and parents who kindly donated dishes from a delicious range of cuisines. We would also like to thank the performers and the audience members. At BHGHS, we pride ourselves on being an environment where people of all cultural and social backgrounds are treated equally, accepted and indeed celebrated. Multicultural Day 2015 is yet one more example of this.
